Ms Barcega earned her degree in Physics from Philippine Normal University, Manila and earned her Masters Degree in Teaching Physics at Technological University of the Philippines. She was awarded a Japanese Government Scholarship (Monbukagakusho Scholarship) Science Teacher Trainee from Tottori University, Japan. Ms Barcega worked in an international school in Bahrain for six years as a Science Coordinator and IB/IGCSE Physics Teacher before moving to Penang where she taught in The International School of Penang (Uplands) for five years. She has experience teaching the English National Curriculum (Key Stage 3 & 4), providing guidance to students under the Cambridge Exam Boards as well as in the IB Diploma.
